In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
·
Needs to be clear of conventions of music video,
digipak and advert
·
Need the conventions of genre
·
Voiceover – play through music video and talk
over it
·
9 frame box with a comment
·
Compare own digipak to others – same for music
video and advert
·
Do a presentation to an audience and record it
How effective is the combination of your main product and
ancillary texts?
·
Discuss how one media product informed the other
– i.e. if you took a screen shot and put it on digipak, and vice versa
·
Common theme – font, colour, brand image –
important because it stays consistent and recognisable
·
Use examples
·
Main character and fonts become recognizable to
audience
·
Difficulties (if any)
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
·
Research and planning, we did a questionnaire,
survey and focus group – reflect on how they influence main products
·
How many views has it got on Youtube/Facebook?
Talk about comments
·
Digipak and advert audience feedback – post it
notes
·
Audience product
·
Show video to target audience and film feedback
·
Why is audience feedback important?
How did you use media technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation stages?
·
Macs to create products (Final Cut pro,
Photoshop)
·
Cameras to record product
·
Social media to present and share product
·
Ways to present: Prezi, PowerPoint, Images,
Voiceover, Interviews, Focus Groups
·
“Question 4 is often the least well answered,
with candidates usually producing a list of hardware and software used with
comments such as ‘If I hadn’t had Final Cut I wouldn’t have been able to make a
good video’ but no analysis of how and why they had used it.”
·
Talk about what the website/program is, maybe
even give a little bit of history on it
·
Cover Prezi, Youtube, facebook, social media in
general, Blogger, Macs, Google
What is expected of me at a Level 4?
·
At Level 4, I am expected to show the answers to
the four questions in interesting, unique, but also technological ways. I need
to show I have understood the conventions of not just my specific genre but of
music videos, adverts and digipaks. I need to understand the importance of my
audience feedback and also how to combine my knowledge of my main task and my
ancillary tasks.
·
“The key
principles for OCR are that there are a number of questions which must be
specifically addressed in the evaluation and that you should think of it as a
creative reflection task rather than a written essay.”
·
“The evaluation can make use of any digital
format, but in order to get top marks, will need to really engage with the
potential of the medium, so if it is on a blog, we would expect to see lots of
use of pictures, links and video.”
(First submission for all four
questions; Thursday 14th March
Feedback; Monday 18th –
Wednesday 27th)
